Employee Directory

The Employee Directory is the heart of TeamBook Connected Org. It surfaces every colleague pulled live from Microsoft 365 groups via Microsoft Graph, and gives you fast, flexible tools to find the right person, in whichever visual style fits your work.


Searching for a person

Use the search bar at the top of the directory. Results filter live as you type — no need to press Enter. The search is typo-tolerant (fuzzy match), so a single misspelt letter still finds the right colleague.

TeamBook matches across:

  • Display name (first name, last name, or both)
  • Job title
  • Department
  • Office location
  • Email address and phone number
  • Skills the colleague has tagged on their profile
Tip: Partial matches work — typing "mar" returns "Mark", "Maria", and anyone in "Marketing".

”Did you mean?” suggestions

If your search returns zero results — usually because of a bigger typo — the directory offers up to three suggested name spellings as one-click chips. Click any chip to refine the search.

Hover micro-preview

Hover over any card for around half a second and a floating preview appears showing the colleague’s bio, top skills, and manager — no need to open the full profile panel just to peek.


Filtering results

The filter strip below the search bar gives you:

Filters stack with search — you can search “John” and filter by “London” simultaneously.


Four card layouts

Pick the visual style that fits your culture. Your admin chooses the default in Settings → Card Designer, and users can switch on the fly via the layout switcher in the toolbar:

ListSortable rows for scanning hundreds of colleagues fast. Same data, info-densest.
Business cardFlippable card with front-of-house identity and back-of-house contact details.
PolaroidPhoto-first “album” view for a warmer, more human feel.

All four show real-time Microsoft Teams presence and the out-of-office badge when applicable.


Sorting

The sort dropdown offers:

  • A → Z or Z → A by display name
  • By department
  • Newest first (most recent joiner, based on Microsoft Entra ID employeeHireDate)

Pinned (Favourites)

Click the star icon on any card to pin a colleague. Pinned colleagues appear in a dedicated strip at the top of the directory for instant access. See Favourites & Presence for the full story.


Viewing a full profile

Click anywhere on a person’s card (outside the action buttons) to open their detail panel. See Employee Profile for what’s inside.


Pagination

The directory paginates large directories (default 12 per page). Use the Next / Previous controls at the bottom. Your admin can tune the page size in Settings → Directory page.


Performance at scale

Profile photos are loaded on demand as cards scroll into view. This keeps first-paint fast even at 5,000+ employees. Photos that have been viewed once are cached in your browser for the session, so re-visits are instant.
